Brand new single in the can  Podcast

It's been a long time coming, but we've finally finished recording a brand new single, which we'll be officially releasing in a few months.

The track is Sincere Karma, and while we've been playing it for a while at our live shows, we've only just had the opportunity to get in the studio and record it. In fact it's the first studio recording we've done since Mystery Highway back in 2015, and as most of our fans know, a fair bit has changed for us in that time.

Here's a sneak peak, with more to come soon.

Most significantly, of course, our line-up has changed twice, and since we've now become very settled with two guitar-duelling superstars, we figured it was time to lay down some of the goodness Figgy and Stefano have brought to COTP for all the world to hear..

We headed into The Brain Studios in Sydney, where Clayton Segelov and Matt Clarke were on hand to engineer and help produce the track, which we managed to finish in little more than a day.

Honestly, we could not be happier with how it's all turned out. Clay and Matt are true masters of their trade and captured some seriously incredible sounds for us, and we thank them enormously for their amazing work.

Speaking of playing live, we've got a couple of big shows coming up to kick off the new year in style. The first is at Frankie's Pizza in Sydney on 27 January, which is the Australia Day long weekend, so we know it's going to be a big night. The second is on 16 February at The Townie in Newtown. You'll hear Sincere Karma in full at both those shows, as well as a whole heap of other tunes and a few cheeky surprises we've been working on.

Can't wait to see you all there.

Cigars play a ripping return at Frankie's

Having spent a few months re-organising the Cigars Of The Pharaoh line-up, it was so awesome to get back on stage and play live again at Frankie's Pizza in Sydney. It was a packed out show, and we couldn't have been happier at seeing all your smiling faces once again, and man, some of the dance moves were just incredible. We had air guitarists everywhere, air drummers, probably some air singers too. Most of all, we had a crowd that was totally up for the night, as we all were after all that time away.

The setlist, which included a few new tracks, was as follows:

Say Something
Sincere Karma
Screaming Woman
Never Leave You
Something's Going Down
Little Monster (Royal Blood Cover)
Mystery Highway

Thanks so much to everyone who made it out. You made the evening a truly special one, and we can't wait to see you all again in a couple of weeks when we play with our buddies from Napoleonic at the Town Hall Hotel in Newtown. Bring it on!!!

We've got a bunch of shots from the show thanks to the awesome Meredith Schofield. Check them all out, and many more, on the Photos page.

New guitars, new Cigars

A couple of months ago, we welcomed our new guitarist Stefano Lo Cascio to the Cigars Of The Pharaoh fold. He's the cool cat standing on the left of the picture above. The other good news is that we're now a two-guitar line-up. Figgy is moving from four strings back to six, and bass is being handled by a secret wizard in a box next to Toby.

Speaking of Toby, he was away for a few weeks, but now he's back and we're back in rehearsals preparing for a couple of upcoming shows, which we'll be using to launch Stefano on to the world. We've written a couple of bangin' new tunes, too, which we'll be playing at Frankie's on 29 July and also The Townie on 12 August. More details on those shows are on the Shows page.

Needless to say, we're all very excited about what Stefano has brought to Cigars. He's a seriously killer player, and with Figgy alongside, our guitar sounds are even more massive, and will really light up your insides like nothing else we've ever produced before.

So make sure you're around for our Sydney shows. We'll have a lot more to report soon. Sorry we've been away for so long, but rest assured, we're well and truly back.

Cigars claim victory in first Emergenza Festival mission

It was quite a night in Sydney as Cigars Of The Pharaoh claimed first place in their heat of the Emergenza Festival, the world's biggest battle of the bands.

The boys ripped it up as the last act of the night on The Lair stage at The Metro Theatre, claiming outright victory by a significant margin — making the opening State Of Origin rugby league contest between New South Wales and Queensland look like an absolute fizzer in comparison.

Victory for COTP grants them a place in the next round of the competition, which will happen in September at The Factory Theatre.

Another success there will mean a place in the national Australian final, and a shot at competing in the international final at Germany's Taubertal Festival, which in the past has featured performances by the likes of The Cure, Placebo, The Prodigy, Iggy & The Stooges, Biffy Clyro and 2016 headliner Limp Bizkit.

Cigars Of The Pharaoh would like to thank everyone that came out to support them on the night, as well as the other bands involved in the heat. A huge thank you also to the Emergenza Festival staff for the opportunity and seamless running of the event.

Here are a few more pics from the night, thanks to our good friend and amazing snapper Mez Schofield.

Keep on rockin'!!!!

Cigars all set for world's biggest band comp

We're delighted to announce we'll be playing in the next heat of the Emergenza Festival, known as the world's biggest band competition. The show is on 1 June in Sydney at The Lair inside The Metro Theatre, and we need you all to come along and vote for us to win!!!

The festival takes place all over the world in more than 30 countries and close to 200 cities. The ultimate prize for winning the Australian leg is a place in the international final in Germany at the Taubertal Festival, where 30,000 people will be in attendance to rock like crazy. Naturally, we desperately want to be there and you can help us.

You can purchase tickets for $15 ahead of the show, or $20 on the door on the night. Once you're there, you'll be able to case your votes and help us get through.

To secure your ticket ahead of the show, simply email us at manager@cigarsofthepharaoh.com, or call the number shown on the image above. It's that easy. We'd love to see you there, because it is going to be one hell of a night.

Here's a taste of what to expect at the Germany festival. We think you'll agree, it looks absolutely brilliant.
