With a power-packed sound that tips a hat to the blues rock genre of old, Cigars Of The Pharaoh has brought the groove back to the Australian live music scene. It’s big, bold, loud, and laden with hooks that bring you coming back for more.
The band formed in the early part of 2015 as a four-piece, a mixed bag of guys with a multitude of musical influences and pasts that gelled from the get-go. Since then, a couple of line-up changes and advice from some of Australian music's biggest mentors has seen the band shape itself into something fresher, using rock as the foundation for a truly unique sound.
From indie pop to hard rock, soul to RnB, electronica to hip-hop, the band represents a special union of musical tastes, all of which goes into creating its original songs. Between them, they also have unrivalled experience, both in the studio and on the stage.
Cigars Of The Pharaoh released a debut EP, Mystery Highway, in late 2015. Hooking up with Sean Carey (Thirsty Merc) at Church Street Studios, they laid down a four-track record that was picked up by The A&R Company for wider distribution. Mystery Highway also received national airplay on Triple M.
Today, Cigars Of The Pharaoh continues to evolve, but this driven quartet is fast becoming one of the hottest new acts in Australia, and definitely one worth taking notice of.
